I'm pre-med, and I'm about to hit my interviews for med school. Looking professional is very important to me, and I wondered if any of you in the medical profession had any advice as to what to do with my hair? (It may sound stupid, but I'm worried about it.) I've worn it long throughout college, and I'm wondering whether I need to cut it. I have a thin, petite look anyway, and I want my colleagues and patients to take me seriously.

My hair is fine, about medium thickness, and it's stuck between wavy and straight. And it's frizzy a lot, even when I style it.

I say grow it long, and when you are at work, keep it up in a bun. That looks so professional!! Then you still have hair to play with when you go out with your girlfriends.

This way you have two different characters. Your professional looking, respectable doctor look. Then your fun girly look.

Most female doctors Ive seen have worn their hair short. But Ive also seen many who had long hair but kept it pulled back in a ponytail. It really just depends on your preference.

Shoulder length is nice but you can pull your hair back and you'll still look professional. Or get the "mom" cut which doesn't look good on everyone.

If you have it very frizzy it might give a sense of disorganised life, personality, Pls get a cut which would go natural with your hair, remove the frizz but do not give it a silky straight look. Wear your hair upto your shoulder, ready to be held back in a pony tail. This will give a look of change and an ability to adapt to demand of busy med life.

I work in a hospital and I've seen female doctors with long hair almost alway put it up. I think that could get boring. Shoulder length hair is more versatile. You can put it up or leave it down and it will look professional. Keep the style simple, though.
